This year's Easter weekend was enormously long. Five full days off as a result of Easter and ANZAC day falling together. ANZAC Day commemorated on the 25th of April each year fell onto Easter Monday. As a result we have been off from Good Friday to Tuesday after Easter.

We took the opportunity to recover from the earlier sicknesses (both Sydney and Christy came down with some nasty bugs!) However, we also had time to revisit Torquay. The scene was very different. There was no space on the sandy beach; too intense were the waves flooding the sand strip we used to put up our sun tent earlier, in summer. The waves attracted a large crowd of surfers, some of them may have participated in the Bells pro competition the day before. (This year marked the 50th competition at Bells Beach.)

Saturday was a quiet day to do chores. Afterwards we took Sydney to watch a movie. This in itself is a challenge with a little kid. I have not understood why the animated children movies are equally long as the adult versions?  In any case, Sydney saw quite a bit and remembers it. We had a good family day.

Sunday church (and nap for Daddy!). Monday out in the Ballarat Wildlife Part. The drive was a bit long (90 Minutes door to door) and the park seems expensive for the exhibition they have. On the positive side, Sydney could pet many animals and even feed the kangaroos. (Most parks in Victoria do not allow pet feeding.) After all, the sun came out and we enjoyed one of those lovely warm days in Melbourne. It was just a real pleasure.

The last day off, Tuesday we had a slow start. Sydney got up late. She seems to be growing reflected by increased sleep and food intake. Once the whole family was ready we headed towards Arthurs Seat on the Mornington Peninsula. There we visited the Enchanted Maze Garden. This was perfect for Sydney. There were several mazes, a little pen with chicken, duck and goat and last but not least an inner tube slide. Sydney enjoyed it a lot.

Now back to a short work week.
