Coming towards the tail end of the COVID-19 pandemic, the restrictions around private gatherings had just been lifted. Theoretically we could have gone to a game place or could have invited up to 20 people. However, at this time everybody in our circle of friends is still very cautious. So we kept this year's party for Sydney low key. She got to celebrate at her real birthday (Wednesday this year) with an ice cream cake and some gifts. On Saturday then, we held a party for some of her closest friends. Sydney invited four friends from school and church.

After the girls arrived, we made pizza. Thomas had dough prepared and so everybody got to make their own, individualized pizza with a number of toppings to pick from. While the pizza was in the oven, the kids played games. Christy had them really well thought out and the kids seemed to enjoy them. After the pizza we had a little bit of time for a movie before the cake. Christy had organised a very large cup-cake delivered right to our door (COVID-19 isolation!). Shortly thereafter it was time again for the first friend to leave. A bit later Christy and Sydney drove the rest of the friends home.
It turned out to be a really nice party. Much more personal despite or maybe because of the fewer participants.

As always, July has been a busy month. We first celebrated our anniversary before Thomas' birthday on the 18th. This year was special in that the Government decided that we would have to go back into isolation mode after the number of new COVID-19 cases flared up in Melbourne. There were just too many people who flaunted all recommendations and rules and in doing so caused another outbreak.
Well, we can deal with this and just celebrated at home.
Anniversary
Thomas organised some flowers and cooked a wonderful Surf&Turf with lobster and steak. It was great even though the flowers did not last as long as expected. Christy completely spoiled Thomas with a number of gifts, including a perfect office light. Did I mention that Chrsty made her pumpkin cheese cake? That is always fantastic and I am having one of the last slices while writing this article.
Birthday
This year, Thomas' birthday fell on a Saturday. Once more he got spoiled by his family with gifts (great tennies), balloons and an ice cream cake. Christy also cooked dinner; she made her Asian chicken & rice. This was just another highlight of my day.
Given we were under strict lock down, I was very excited about the large number of online wishes and congratulatory notes. It was heart-warming to see all these messages come in as different parts of the world started their day.
Below just a few pictures from these days.

ok, so you may not have realized it, but it has been 4 years since the previous web site had been migrated and built. In these four years, I have not been too active - here a plug to apologize for the lack of regular picture updates. Still migrating the site is something I always dread because of its size and complexity.
In time before the old site expired, I managed to find a new hosting provider and to minimize the pain of transferring the site from its original place to here.
Big shout out - as you read this you are on the New Website - a Big WELCOME.
I am sure you will find some differences and maybe some bugs. If you find anything you think should be improved, please send an email to the site administrator (email at the bottom of each page) and we improve or squash the bugs. At the same time, I do have a number of things that are on my list to change including.
- update the picture slider to the newest version, to get more features and provide better use on mobile devices - DONE
- finally - hey we live in 2020! - enable https with a site certificate. As a matter I will reroute http requests to https - DONE
- ...
- and last but not least add additional topics
I do wish you all the very best, and again, please help us squash bugs and grow more content.
