Australia...it is official

Finally the Labor Day weekend arrived in the US. We enjoyed a good three day weekend together as a family.

On Friday we met with our group of people, the Coffee House group. This dates back well into Thomas' early times in the US. After having been there on a regular basis, a bunch of people kept meeting and following each other through ups and downs in life. We had a lot of stimulating discussions, each of us coming from a different background. We have a very diverse group in terms of origin, religion and age. Maybe this is the major reason why we forged so well. It will be sad to not being able to meet with this great group. (At the same time we do hope that they will be visiting! No pressure, Ali.) Pictures will follow.

On Sunday we announced our impending departure to the church members. We got a lot of echo. There, too it will be hard to move from such great a ward. This is most definitely the best ward I have had the privilege to be a guest in. As I said, this is but another chapter in Christy and my journey and we will have to turn the page, start a new chapter and seek the new challenges and opportunities. Still, we do hope to be able to return and visit.

Monday, we started in the zoo. For once we took a different route. This time we saw a completely new set of animals. It was hot. After about 90min we left and headed for lunch. Sydney was so tired. She fell asleep immediately after arriving at home. This gave Christy and Tyler the chance to make good on a slurpy from Jamba Juice. Back again we got to swim in the backyard. The pool's temperature is great. No longer as warm as during the peak summer days.

Did I mention, I submitted the Visa requests for Australia. Now Sydney needs to get a health checkup. One more think to do.
