So what can you do with a teenager and a four year old on a rainy day? As this was the unmptieth rainy day in sequence, sitting at home was not an option. So Christy remembered the Melbourne Aquarium. It is located
close to the Flinders Street station and hence easily reachable by train. Once there, for one the sun came out but the kids still had a lot of fun with the animals.
The aquarium is not very big, but there are lots of opportunities for the kids to watch their beloved animals and have Mom take funky pictures.
The originally gray day turned into a fun filled excursion, both kids enjoyed. Well done Mom!

Christy, Tyler and Sydney did make it to the Eureka Skydeck. One more tourist attraction to tick off as it is called here.
The Eureka tower named after Eureka Stockade who formed part of the Victorian gold rush times bears a lot of symbolism. With its almost 300m height it is the tallest tower in the southern hemisphere. Really interesting is the Edge, a 3m protruding glass cube at almost 300m. Check it out for yourself!

Great Sunday. We had a late start. The sun rises early and any time after 6am it is light already. Sydney had an even later start, for once she did not show up in our room. (Not to mention our teenager son, who could sleep in till any time of the day.)
After rushing the family through bath (Sydney) and preparations we made it to church and had a good service. As part of the time there, Christy and I have got a new calling. I was secretly wondering how long it takes them to assign me to a calling. Now it has happened.
In the afternoon, we had soup for lunch and Sydney deteriorated more and more. Nappy time! She slept for a bit and once back, awake we headed to the beach. While it was windy, we still had a really good time walking along the beach and taking pictures as the sun slowly set. It is a great time, not hot yet, but whenever the rain ceases we can spend a great time outdoors. See for yourselves below.

November has been a busy month for the Buehlmann family. For one Christy was busy with some major papers for her school. At the same time Thomas encountered more and more challenges at work (they translate into work and the first sign of changes on the project.)
Still, we managed to visit the Weribee Zoo. There Christy and Sydney had a very close exposure to some Cheetahs. (Well, there was a glas pane between them, but it is hardly visible, is it?) Then, in the second part of the month, Thomas had to go to Brisbane for a client presentation. Christy and Sydney could come along and we made a long weekend. We stayed at the Whatley's where Sydney adores all family members.
It was a really good weekend!

Congratulations Buehlmann family! We have been in Australia for a little bit over a year. This marked our second Christmas down under.
But let's start with first things first. At the beginning of December Christy and Thomas attended several "holiday" parties. The most prominent among them was the work Christmas party. We both dressed up as can be seen from Christy's picture.
We also got a chance to attend Sydney's Kindergarten Christmas presentation. Neat presentation by the kids.
Then on the 20th we headed up to Brisbane where we first stayed a week in the Marriott. It brought back memories of when Summer and Jay got married in 2005. Sydney loved the ability to go up to the Executive Lounge and have a soda, ok "cappa" as she calls it. Tyler visited us for Christmas day. Together with the rest of teh Australian family we spent the morning together and exchanged gifts. The Whatleys also joined and participated. Good lunch, memorable day.
The second half of the trip we spent in Mooloolaba in the Nautilus. The weather was predominantly grey and we had almost all the time rain. (This is the year, with the massive floods in Queensland.) Still, it was nice to be up there. We still could go to the beach, but had to stay for a short time as Sydney got cold. She enjoyed warming up in the hot tub after time at the beach.
For New Year's Eve we headed back to Brisbane. Tyler was returning to the US. We met up with some of the family members and watched the fireworks. We had a good time, but had to return soon to Melbourne.
